Sector
Healthcare
Healthcare platforms hold the most sensitive data in the country and feed decisions that affect lives. We have delivered at national scale, under pandemic pressure, with zero downtime as the floor, not the goal.
Sector context
Healthcare technology in the UK operates under NHS Digital information governance, the Data Security and Protection Toolkit, ICO oversight, and clinical safety review (DCB0129/DCB0160). Patient data demands more than encryption; it demands lineage, integrity and accountability. During COVID-19, the platforms that fed national vaccine research and pandemic response could not afford to fail. Cipherer's principal consultant led the NHS Digital SUS+ National Data Platform migration during exactly that period.
Track record
- NHS Digital SUS+ National Data Platform
National data infrastructure delivered during COVID-19, enabling secure large-scale access to healthcare data for pandemic response and vaccine research. Legacy on-prem systems migrated to AWS with zero-downtime data migration patterns preserving the integrity of records covering ~69M patients across England. Coordination across multiple third-party suppliers and government stakeholders under high political and public visibility.
How we approach this sector
Clinical safety as an engineering property
Migrations and changes are designed against clinical-safety standards, not just engineering preferences. Rollback, validation and reconciliation are first-class engineering deliverables.
Information governance as foundation
Data lineage, integrity, encryption and audit are designed in. Information governance teams should not have to reverse-engineer compliance from logs after the fact.
Multi-supplier coordination at pace
National healthcare programmes span suppliers. We work at the architecture and engineering interface, defining contracts and integration patterns so delivery moves at the cadence the system demands.
